Matt Willis singer and bassist with chart-toppers Busted will star as Dr Pomatter in the smash-hit musical comedy Waitress at Hull New Theatre next spring.
The pop-star and former I’m A Celebrity winner, who has scored several number one songs with the band including Who’s David, Crashed the Wedding and You Said No, is no stranger to the theatre having starred in A Christmas Carol and Wicked.
He will be joined by Lucie Jones (Waitress, Les Misérables, Legally Blonde) as Jenna, with Sandra Marvin (Waitress, ITV’s Emmerdale, Hairspray) playing Becky, and Evelyn Hoskins (Waitress, Spring Awakening) when the show hits the stage from 31 January – 5 February, 2022.
Based on Adrienne Shelley’s 2007 film of the same name, Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of being happy. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.
This beautiful production with music and lyrics by GRAMMY award-winning, singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Tony® Award-winner Diane Paulus celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
