No matter where you go, or how old you get, burgers are an absolute certainty in life, with almost all restaurants and eateries having at least one burger on the menu, and Hull is no exception.

We never get bored of burgers, perhaps because they come in all different shapes and sizes, fillings, and even colours these days. And in Hull, we’re blessed with a great selection of specialist eateries where you can bag a bangin’ burger!

So we’ve rounded up some of Hull’s most popular, and tastiest burger joints you can find right now!

Grilla Burger

Inside Hammonds of Hull, Paragon Street, Hull city centre

Grilla Burger in Hull has been a huge hit since they opened last year! Originally named Your Creation when they were on Vernon Street, owner Chris wanted to create a high-quality burger joint where you can completely customise your burgers exactly how you like them. He’s continued that same model now and has taken over a kitchen space in the new Hammonds Food Hall.

From personal experience, they are absolutely amazing, but looks like everyone else thinks so too with a huge 4.9/5 review rating on Facebook!

Also, you have to try their breakfast burgers!

Fat Stax

Inside Pearson’s Bar, Princes Avenue, West Hull

Tucked away inside Pearson’s on the corner of Princes Ave and Springbank, is this little gem that only opened in Hull last Summer (July 2021). With their own special branded buns, the combinations look amazing and reviews so far, have been fantastic at 4.3/5 on Facebook.

It looks like amazing value too with menu prices from just £4 for classics and £4.25 for more interesting combinations and flavours.

Five Bites

Roebank Arcade, Bodmin Road, Bransholme, Hull, HU7 4HE

Now this place is a personal favourite of our head honcho, Dave! If you live in the north of Hull, this burger joint with a very similar name to a very popular worldwide burger chain, is an absolute favourite with the locals. Their Gourmet Burgers are incredibly tasty and only cost around a fiver each… Dave highly recommends the Rocka Fella burger!

If you love classic takeaway fries with chip spice, then order some alongside your burgers too because they’re crispy, fresh and taste sensational.

Mr Hugo

Paragon Street, Hull city centre

When you think ‘burgers’ you probably think American right? Well this German restaurant which opened in Hull in late 2021 serves up ‘smashing’ burgers for you to try! Made from fresh local steak from Yorkshire cows, you won’t go wrong trying a Smash Burger, fries and German beer combo from here! They’re certainly not the “wurst”! (sorry I’ll get my coat!)

Burgerology

317 Holderness Road, East Hull

Another new addition to the burger scene in Hull, is this highly-rated takeaway on Holderness Road. If it’s size that matters then look no further as these guys are serving up choices of 6oz, 12oz or a whopping 18oz burger on their menu! (That top option is more than 1lb and equivalent to 4 quarter-pounders!)
