The Biggest Music Gigs Coming to Hull After Lockdown

2020 was a live music write-off. But with a new plan to come our of lockdown, the latter half of 2021 is looking really promising.

The Bonus Arena and Hull City Hall are planning to welcome some of the biggest names to Hull. There’s also Hull’s beloved Adelphi Club, O’Reillys, The Asylum, Humber Street Sesh, and the city’s newest venue, SOCIAL, that are hoping to bring live music back in 2021! So keep your eyes peeled for them! ?

Check out this list of the biggest music gigs and musical productions planned for Hull & East Yorkshire after Lockdown in 2021! Please remember, that all dates are still subject to change.

Blossoms

Bonus Arena, Hull – 30 August 2021

Forming in 2013, Blossoms have enjoyed widespread success and acclaim for their synth-forward blend of Britpop and indie rock.

In 2014, they released their first single, You Pulled a Gun on Me, and went on to play The Great Escape and Reading & Leeds that summer. Their 2016 eponymous debut topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and went on to earn the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations.

There are 25 dates planned for the new UK tour with one date at the Bonus Arena, Hull planned for 30 August. Tickets are limited but still available!

Elbow

Bonus Arena, Hull – 2 September 2021

Originally scheduled to play at the Bonus Arena in September last year, Elbow have postponed their tour by a whole year, which means they’ll now be coming to East Yorkshire on 2 September this year instead.

Elbow are huge name to come to Hull as part of a wider UK tour consisting of 24 dates. Tickets are fairly limited but still available.

Tom Jones

Hull College Craven Park – 4 September 2021

June 13th, 2020 should have been the day the legendary Sir Tom Jones visited Hull’s Craven Park for a special celebration tour. But of course, these dates could not go ahead. They announced a new date of 12 June, but once again, this is likely to move to later in the year. We’ll update this article as soon as we hear. Tickets available now!

The Specials

Bonus Arena, Hull – 13 September 2021

70’s Ska Revival band The Specials are returning to Hull on September 13th, 2021! The band has seen seven hit singles, including two number ones, two hit albums, and of course, sell-out tours! Standing and seated tickets are still available for this exceptional Bonus Arena gig!

ABBA Mania

Hull City Hall – 24 Sep 2021

Another phenomenal tribute show is coming to Hull City Hall on the 24th September 2021. ABBA Mania is one of the world’s finest West End Productions, and now the exciting award-winning production will be visiting Hull & East Yorkshire audiences as part of their 22-stop tour! Tickets available now!

Tom Grennan

Bonus Arena, Hull – 29 September 2021

Tom Grennan is one of the best upcoming UK artists right now. You’ll have likely heard his songs but not necessarily known it’s him.

As well as performing in Hull, Tom’s tour will include his biggest ever UK headline show to date at London’s Alexandra Palace – a landmark gig at the iconic 10,000 capacity venue.

Whitney – Queen Of The Night

Hull City Hall – 2 Oct 2021

A wonderful celebration of the musical history and the life of one of the most legendary vocalists of our time Whitney Houston. ‘Whitney – Queen Of The Night’ is an award-winning tribute production that features a magnificent line-up of musicians and artists and will be coming to Hull City Hall Saturday 2nd October 2021! Simply Red

Bonus Arena, Hull – 2 & 3 October

Another huge name from the 90s era; the iconic Simply Red are taking to the road again for a 13-date tour and this time, coming to Hull with 2 live gigs on 2nd and 3rd October.

Hailed as one of the most successful live acts ever to come out of the UK, Simply Red will be firing on all cylinders delivering their all-time classic hits from a stellar career, such as ‘Stars’, ‘Holding Back The Years’, ‘Fairground’ and ‘Money’s Too Tight To Mention’, as well as some raw and soulful new grooves. Paloma Faith

Bonus Arena Hull – 7 October 2021

Paloma Faith the Double Platinum and BRIT award-winning artist has announced an exciting UK tour for September and October 2021! Performing the studio album, Infinite Things, which includes the recently released singles ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Last Night on Earth’, Hull fans will be able to catch the tour at Hull’s Bonus Arena on Thursday 7th October. Tickets available now!

Jason Donovan

Bonus Arena, Hull – 9 October 2021

If you’re over the age of 35, it’s unlikely that you’ve not heard of Jason Donovan. Best known for his role in the Australian soap, Neighbours, he’s been singing and acting for the last 30 years!

To mark the anniversary of his debut album, Ten Good Reasons, he’s embarking on a mammoth 52-date tour, which includes a live gig at the Bonus Arena, Hull on 9 October.

His Even More Good Reasons tour will see Jason singing his greatest pop hits along with his favourite songs from his career in musicals, all accompanied by a full live band. Songs will include the chart-toppers Too Many Broken Hearts, Especially For You and Any Dream Will Do and for the first time ever, Jason will be performing a selection of songs from the musicals he has starred in. These will include songs from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Rocky Horror Show and Priscilla Queen Of The Desert. Tickets are fairly limited but still available!

Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott

Bonus Arena, Hull – 24 & 25 October 2021

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, two Hull legends have paired up to bring us two exciting Bonus Arena shows set to go ahead later this year! The gigs were originally scheduled for April but will now be October, seeing the duo return to home-ground and perform hits from The Housemartins and The Beautiful South years, as well songs from the pairs studio album ‘Manchester Calling’. Tickets on sale now!

Riverdance

Bonus Arena, Hull – 30 October 2021

Riverdance has been performed all over the world, and now Hull finally has the chance to see it live when it comes to the Bonus Arena, Hull on 30 October.

Twenty-five years since it first began, composer Bill Whelan has rerecorded his mesmerising soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have completely reimagined the ground-breaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark

Bonus Arena Hull – 5 November 2021

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark are set to visit Hull’s Bonus Arena next year as part of a new 15-date UK arena tour! Formed in 1977, the band’s latest tour will see them perform hits from their iconic 1981 album ‘Architecture & Morality’, along with classic bops like ‘Enola Gay’, and ‘If You Leave’. Tickets for the Bonus Arena show on Friday 5th November are available now.

Boyzlife

Hull City Hall – 5 November 2021

Two of the world’s biggest boy-bands come together for this gig featuring Brian McFadden of Westlife and Keith Duffy of Boyzone.

The show will include many of their greatest hits from a record breaking 18 Number 1 singles and nine number 1 albums, and combined record sales of over 60 million units.

Expect to hear, ‘World Of Our Own’, ‘Mandy’, ‘Queen Of My Heart’, ‘Picture Of You’, ‘Words’, ‘No Matter What’, ‘Uptown Girl’, ‘Flying Without Wings’, ‘You Raise Me Up’, ‘Going Gets Tough’, ‘Swear It Again’, ‘Father and Son’, ‘Love Me For A Reason’, ‘My Love’ and more. Tickets still available!

Rick Astley

Bonus Arena, Hull – 7 November 2021

In a career spanning over 30 years, Rick Astley has sold over 40 million records worldwide. His classic Never Gonna Give You Up has had over 140 million streams on Spotify alone.

He’ll be coming to Hull’s Bonus Arena on Sunday 7 November. Tickets are very limited but still available!

JLS

Bonus Arena, Hull – 10 November 2021

Multi BRIT and MOBO Award winning boy band JLS today announce details of their return to music as they are set to embark on a mammoth UK and Ireland comeback tour. Following a seven year hiatus Aston, Marvin, Oritsé and JB will take the ‘Beat Again’ tour to stages across the UK and Ireland reuniting with their legions of loyal fans for a fifteen date string of arena shows. Tickets are very limited but still available!

Blondie

Bonus Arena, Hull – 11 November 2021

Blondie are one of the most influential bands to emerge in the 80s. Iconic frontwoman/songwriter Debbie Harry, guitarist Chris Stein and drummer Clem Burke, are back on the road, along with long standing band mates bassist Leigh Foxx, guitarist Tommy Kessler and keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen.

They’ve announced a 10 date UK tour to begin in November 2021, with a date at Hull’s Bonus Arena on 11 November 2021. Tickets are extremely limited but still available.

The Australian Pink Floyd

Bonus Arena, Hull – 26 November 2021

The Australian Pink Floyd is the world’s greatest Floyd tribute band. Having sold over four million tickets and visited 35 countries since they formed in 1988, their next stop is Hull’s Bonus Arena! Friday 26th November 2021, the band will provide an unforgettable experience for Floyd fans, a chance to reminisce, and a chance to listen to some of the greatest songs ever written, performed live! The Human League

Bonus Arena, Hull – 6 December 2021

70’s synth-pop band The Human League are back with a UK & European 2021 tour titled ‘Dare 40’. This incredible tour will stop off at over 20 venues! Including a visit to Hull’s Bonus Arena on Monday 6th December 2021! The band will be performing with special guests Altered Images, Tom Bailey, and Thompson Twins. Tickets available now!

UB40

Bonus Arena, Hull – 16 December 2021

70’s formed English Reggae band UB40 will be visiting Hull’s Bonus Arena on 16th December after the original March 19th date was cancelled. The band has had more than 50 UK hit singles and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide! This next tour is planned to be one of their greatest yet, performing tracks from their latest studio album ‘For The Many’, paired with classics such as ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling in Love with You’ and ‘I Got You Babe’. The 2021 Hull Gigs, moved to 2022

With so many gigs postponed because of the pandemic, some couldn’t fit into the 2021 calendar. So here’s what you can look forward to in the early part of next year…

Queen Extravaganza

Bonus Arena, Hull – 20 February 2022

Queen Extravaganza are the official Queen tribute band produced by Roger Taylor and Brian May. The band are returning to the UK in 2021, following sell out shows across the globe.

Made up of a rolling cast of musicians, hand-picked by Roger Taylor and Brian May; Queen Extravaganza will be now be coming to Hull on Sunday 20 February 2022. Tickets are still available!

Texas

Bonus Arena, Hull – 26 February 2022

For over 30 years, Texas have proved themselves to be one of Scotland’s best ever bands, with hits such as ‘Inner Smile’, ‘Say What You Want’, ‘I Don’t Want A Lover’ and ‘Summer Son’.  

They’ll be bringing their UK tour to the Bonus Arena, Hull on Saturday 26 February 2022. Tickets still available.

Paul Weller

Bonus Arena, Hull – 6 April 2022

Music luminary Paul Weller, best known for being a member of punk rock/new wave/mod revival band the Jam, and the founder of 80’s band, The Style Council was scheduled for Bonus Arena Hull on June 28th this year, but has now been pushed right back to 6 April 2022!

Once again the Bonus Arena stage will be occupied by a music legend and fans will be in for another unforgettable evening. Tickets available now!

Craig David

Bonus Arena, Hull – 26 April 2022

Since bursting onto the music scene with critically acclaimed debut album, ‘Born To Do It’, a genre-defining record that established Craig David as one of the UK’s most beloved artists, Craig has since remained at the helm of his own unique, authentically British sound.

He’ll be performing live in Hull on Tuesday 26 April 2022 – Tickets are available now!

Bryan Adams

Bonus Arena, Hull – 25 May 2022

Arguably the biggest musicians to ever come to Hull, Bryan Adams is famous across the globe. Tickets sold out immediately for this one. Originally scheduled to come to Hull in 2020, he’ll be performing at the Bonus Arena on Wednesday 25 May, 2022. Only platinum tickets are now available.

Pet Shop Boys

Bonus Arena, Hull – 31 May 2022

The Pet Shop Boys tour, which had already been rescheduled once due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic, will see the duo play UK and European shows next summer as part of their first ever greatest hits tour.

The arena shows kick off in Vienna on May 12th and close in Stockholm on June 15th.. In the UK Pet Shop Boys play Manchester, London, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Birmingham, Glasgow and Hull. Tickets are available now!
