Visit the Zoo

Bridlington Animal Park, Bridlington

This half term why not take a walk on the wild side and visit our animal friends at Bridlington Animal Park! They have Wallabies, Meerkats, Racoons, Goats and so many more furry friends to visit, or if you’re brave enough they have gators, snakes, tarantulas and even hissing cockroaches! It costs £6.95 for adults, £5.95 for children, and entry is free for children under 3. Animal experiences are available, as well as animal Meet and Greets!

Go Sailing

Welton Waters Adventure Centre, Brough

For the more daring families, Welton Waters Adventure Centre is the place to go to fulfill all your adrenaline junkie and explorer needs this half term. The centre is located on the edge of the Humber River in Brough and offers a range of activities including canoeing and kayaking. Dress warm and bring spare clothes as it’s highly likely you’re going to get wet! It costs £30 to rent a rafted canoe for the family, £25 to rent a family paddleboard, and £10 to rent a pedalo for up to 4 people.

Under the Sea

The Deep, Tower Street, Hull

Sea Life Centre, Scarborough

If you’d prefer to stay out of the water this half term then maybe this one is more your thing! The Deep, probably Hull’s most famous attraction is a perfect visit for this rainy half term, with over 70 different habitats and hundreds of sea creatures, there’s plenty to explore! But if you’ve been to The Deep one too many times and fancy a change, Sea Life Centre in Scarborough is another option and it’s only just over an hour from Hull.

Terrifying Tiki

If you’re feeling festive and still want to celebrate Halloween this year, Tiki Cafe located within Ings Lane Garden Centre is now offering a fun-packed spooky haunted mansion visit and ghost hunting trail throughout the half term for you and the kiddies! And the ghostly adventures don’t stop there, as they are also offering Halloween themed afternoon tea with spider ice-creams, spooktacular picnic boxes, and spine-tingling activity packs that include magic painting and exciting puzzles!

Treat the kids to a day of gaming and take a trip to Hull’s one and only dedicated retro arcade and pinball venue. MonsterVillain Kids Fun Trail

Are you brave enough for monster hunting? A fun Halloween themed trail is an exciting new addition to the Hull City Centre this half term. Window monsters have been placed in 10 businesses around the city centre for families to hunt down and scan on their smartphones to learn about each character’s personality and find out their names, stories, and powers! Families who track down all 10 MonsterVillains win a free eBook containing follow-up adventures written especially for the trail.

Jump Around

Inflata Nation, Beverley

Let the kids go wild this half term! At the amazing indoor inflatable park, Inflata Nation! The park boasts a plethora of activities including an assault course, climbing wall, bouncy balls, and giant slides! Tickets are £9.99 for adults and children, and £5.99 for under 4s.

A Film on the Big Screen

Odeon LUXE, Kingston Retail Park, Hull

If you want to sit back, relax and watch movies in style this half term, then you should visit the most luxurious cinema there is in the area; ODEON Luxe. Located at Kingston Retail Park in Hull city centre. There might not be many new films to watch right now, but the big screen and surround sound means it’s still the perfect place to experience a movie together.

Family tickets are available for as little as £22.

Go Karting

Are you hoping to make some amazing half term memories? TeamSport Go Karting has a 400m indoor multi-level go-karting track and promises hair-raising bends, spine-tingling turns, and challenging ramps that will certainly add some excitement and thrill to your life this half term!

How great is it that there’s so many places to try out Crazy Golf in Hull? There’s Princes Quay’s 9 Hole Golfing Course, that has a very special UV Halloween theme this week! There’s also TeamSport’s Putt Club crazy golf experience that features an amazing motorsport theme, and an outdoor pirate adventure themed course at One Stop Golf on National Avenue (if it’s not too cold).

It’s not available this half-term but good to know anyway… Soon to open in St Stephens is a new 18-hole Lost City Adventures Golf Course with it’s exciting rainforest and Tiki theme! Looks like Hull is most definitely going to have a surge of pro golfers lining up for the next summer Olympics!  

Go Bowling

Hollywood Bowl, Kingswood Retail Park, Hull

Fun Station, St Stephens, Hull

Hull has three places you can enjoy bowling as a family. The biggest bowling alley, Hollywood Bowl, has 26 lanes while Superbowl has 12 lanes. Some lanes are marked as VIP which adds a bit of privacy, and there’s an American Diner and Bar at Hollywood Bowl. Both have plenty of arcade games and pool tables so they’re great places to have hours of multi-activity fun indoors as the weather gets ready for the winter months. For the youngsters (ages around 3-8) you should consider taking a visit to the bowling alley inside the Fun Station in St Stephens, as they have special bowling features in place specifically for the little ones! There are also many arcade/amusements to keep them entertained too.

Explore an Indoor Rainforest

Bugtopia, Hornsea Freeport, Rolston Rd, Hornsea

If you don’t mind the creepiest of crawlies then why not plan a visit to Bugtopia in Hornsea and explore an indoor rainforest packed with exotic plants and animals. There’s everything from free-roaming birds, butterflies, insects, and even reptiles. Tickets cost £5.00 for adults and £4.00 for children.

Online Events

If you would rather stay in this half term, there are still plenty of fun and exciting activities on offer for the little ones to keep them entertained, all from the comfort of your own home! Hull Libraries has created an array of fantastic online events, from scavenger hunts and tree trails to street dancing and dog trails! There’s plenty to take part in!

History Walking Trail

Whitefriargate, Hull

How about a stroll through old town following Hull’s newest walking trail adventure! You can explore the vibrant history of Whitefriargate, hunt for unicorns and solve the puzzles all while following the new walking trail map! The trail begins at Beverley Gate, down Whitefriargate and finishes in Trinity Square. Once families have completed the trail they can receive a free certificate, confirming that they are now experts on the history of Whitefriargate!
