Hull & East Yorkshire’s best bars & pubs to watch the new football season

A new football season is here and pubs and sports bars all over Hull & East Yorkshire will be showing matches on their big screens from the Premier League, Champions League, EFL and more.

For me, apart from being at the match itself, there’s no better way to watch the football than in a Hull pub, drink in hand, great food and mates around you.

So we’ve picked out some of the very best bars & pubs in the area showing football with amazing screens, sound and food to get stuck into and experience the football in the best way possible.

Kick’s Bar & Grill

4-6 Paragon Street (corner of Chapel Street), Hull city centre

After about a year in business, Kicks has already become one of our favourite pubs in Hull showing football this season.

Kicks, on the corner of Paragon Street and Chapel Street in Hull city centre, have invested a fair amount in getting just the right set-up for showing plenty of sport and not just the football.

With Sky Sports and TNT Sports (formerly BT Sport) available to watch on multiple large screens throughout the bar, you’re guaranteed a great view wherever you sit. Not only that, but there’s a huge video wall too with some well-positioned VIP booths just in front for an amazing view.

There’s a huge choice of drinks and the food is fantastic too (see our video above)

Service Station

George Street, Hull

Just on the other side of Hull city centre, you’ll find Service Station on the corner of George Street and Wilberforce Drive. It has a nice set-up with several screens in great positions throughout the bar, including 2 large projector screens.

Drinks are reasonably priced. There’s a pool table and you can even book out a private booth for you and your mates which they don’t charge for (you just have to be first to book by phone or their Facebook page).

If you’re driving (and not drinking alcohol), there’s a cheap £3 car park next door too which is open until 7pm each day, or you can park right on the street after 6pm for free.

Yates

1-4 Trinity House Lane, Hull, HU1 2JD (Corner of Silver Street)

If you’re looking for a pub in Hull’s old town, then Yates is a great place showing football.

There are screens everywhere throughout the venue, plus a large projector screen, so wherever you park your bum, you should get a good view.

The food is decent quality and reasonably priced, as you’d expect.

Tribal Bar & Grill

Kingswood Leisure Park, Kingswood, Hull, HU7 3DB

This is a modern sports bar which opened in the north of the city at Kingswood Leisure Park in 2018.

It has both Sky Sports and TNT Sports and like most modern bars today, it’s spacious, vibrant, and more comfortable than most pubs in Hull showing football. It has several screens around the place including a huge video wall and an excellent sound system so you’ll get a great experience wherever you sit.

The food is very, very good too and there’s a good selection of drinks and prices are pretty reasonable.

You don’t need to book, but it’s a popular spot, so I’d recommend doing it (here) nonetheless.

Village Hotel Pub & Grill

Henry Boot Way, Hull HU4 7DY

The Village Hotel’s Pub & Grill had a refurb in 2020 and installed a huge 80″ TV with theatre-style seating so you can get a great view of the match. There are plenty more screens around the place, all nice and big too, so you definitely won’t miss a minute even if you have to pop up to the bar for more drinks.

I have tried the food here and it is good too. Drinks selection is ok but a little pricey. Worth going though, just for the big screen.

You can book a table here >

Sutton Fields

Oslo Rd, Hull HU7 0YN

Since a refurb a few years ago, Sutton Fields has become a great place to watch football. There’s no huge screen like the others, but there are 10 HD screens positioned all over the pub, so you can get a good view wherever you’re sat.

Drinks are well-priced and the food looks good (but not yet tasted). There are two new pool tables as well for half-time games with your mates.

Whistling Goose

Amsterdam Rd, Sutton Fields, Hull HU7 0XF

Whistling Goose is another pub in Hull showing the football. It had a facelift a few years ago which has introduced much nicer seating that’s more spacious and open-plan.

Just across the way from Sutton Fields, it has plenty of parking and like Sutton Fields, large HD screens are dotted everywhere throughout so there aren’t many places you wouldn’t get a decent view of the match.

I can highly recommend the food, particularly if you like a steakhouse grill menu. It’s well priced and drinks are too. Overall a great place to chill and watch the football.

Firepit Smokehouse & Sports Bar

Flemingate, Beverley, HU17 0NZ

Another popular spot, this is a modern sports bar with plenty of screens all over the joint.

What we like about Firepit is that, like Tribal, they also have a video wall but with no visible joints getting in the way; Tribal looks like 9 screens joined together which isn’t a major problem, but Firepit is a slight improvement. Firepit also has some nice comfy couches right in front of the screen but you have to book early (here) in order to get one though.

Like Tribal, the food is excellent, there’s a great selection of drinks available and there’s a few pool tables and other games to enjoy before and after the match. Firebit also has both Sky Sports and TNT Sports.

The Hayride

Grange Way, Beverley HU17 9GP

Part of the same chain as Whistling Goose, The Hayride in Beverley is a bit of a hidden gem.

This is a spacious pub with plenty of big screens so wherever you sit you’ll have a great view of the match. Drinks and food are well-priced, and it’s easy to order from your table using the app. Like Whistling Goose, it’s a steakhouse grill menu (I can highly recommend the steaks). They’re also dog friendly and there’s plenty of parking at the back. They also show both Sky and TNT Sports matches.

Humber Arena

204 Ferensway, Hull HU2 8HY

Humber Arena is one of Hull’s newer openings, found where the old Merchant Navy Bar used to be, connected to the Gilson Hotel. With 9 large screen TVs showing Sky Sports, TNT Sports, and box office events, it’s as solid a place as any to watch the games.

For half-time, they’ve got pool, darts, and table football, as well as a massive beer garden along Ferensway.
