Following the government’s announcement on Sunday, ‘Lockdown 2: Electric Boogaloo’ is upon us. And from Thursday all non-essential shops will close their doors for a month.

Whilst all restaurants and eateries are locking their doors to the public, a lot of them are going to offer takeout options so you can still grab some incredible restaurant quality cuisine while we stay home.

Each week throughout the month ahead, we’ll be recommending a different set of great Hull & East Yorkshire restaurants and take-aways, so you can try something new (or an old favourite!).

Check out these Hull takeaways…

Heiseiya

27 Exmouth Avenue, Hull, HU5 2JP
Order directly from them > Order on Just Eat >

Heiseiya is a Newland Avenue staple and according to their reviews “perhaps the best Japanese takeaway in Hull”. And I concur, I live nearby to Heiseiya so I have had my fair share of takeaways from there and I believe it’s worth the hype. In the mood for sushi? Order straight from their website. Fancy a Katsu curry? Order from their Just Eat. Multiple experiences from the same takeaway? Count me in.

Solita

Freedom Quay, Wellington St W, Hull HU1 2BD
Order from Deliveroo >

Fresh to Hull but already an award winning bar & grill in Manchester, Solita’s menu is packed with creative and decadent burger creations, wings, starters and so much more. Solita captures flavours and styles of New York and Italy in a unique way and brings them to your doorstep. Their burger list is massive and their vegan selections is fair so they’re onto a winner in my books.

Huckleberry’s

31 Percy St, Hull HU2 8HL
Order from their website >

I feel like at this point I should have my picture up inside Huckleberry’s considering how much I’ve eaten there. For the longest time, Huckleberry’s was one of the only places worth going to to get fantastic tasting vegan chicken. And whilst the vegan competition is heating up in Hull (more on that next week), Huckleberry’s is still the king for vegan takeaway. With a whole range of American inspired dishes including Hot Dog, Southern Fried Chicken, and Pulled-Not-Pork-Burger, Huckleberry’s will definitely fill you up this lockdown.

Macau

143 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 2ER
Order from their website >

Macau is the perfect Chinese takeaway. Not only does it have an ungodly large menu for sharing with your family. But they also do munchies box for when you don’t fancy sharing anything at all. I usually go for the latter. You have a choice between a spicy, original or veggie box and they’re all served with fried rice or noodles along with curry sauce or sweet and sour sauce or gray sauce.

Newland Fisheries

Newland Fisheries, 4 Newland Ave, Hull HU5 3AF
Check out their Facebook for more information >

I only tried this chippy not too long ago and its already become a staple into our takeaway habits. The reason is simple, they’re the only fish & chip shop in the local area to offer a full vegan range. Plus it’s pretty tasty; you can’t go wrong with a chippy tea. Plus Newland Fisheries is the cheapest eatery on this list so if you’re on a tighter budget this lockdown, this is the chippy for you.
