Hull Truck Christmas Show Available to Watch FREE

Fantastic Christmas Show Comes to Hull & East Yorkshire Homes

In an exciting new collaboration Hull Truck Theatre, Hull City Council, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council have banded together to bring a fantastic Christmas performance to local residents, schools, and care homes for free this December!

Hull Truck Theatre’s festive show, Prince Charming’s Christmas Cracker, written and directed by Mark Babych, will debut and stream to YouTube at 7pm on Tuesday 22 December and will be available to watch on-demand until early January. Schools, care homes and community groups are encouraged to join in the festivities, with accompanying workshops and resource packs available.

Prince Charming’s Christmas Cracker offers an innovative and magical audience experience, from interactive features, behind the scenes footage, and a sneak-peek into backstage life, this show provides heaps more entertainment than the average film or series!

Originally to be performed in a crowd-filled theatre, run-throughs of the show were just about to begin when the country went into its second national lockdown. With the continued restrictions and visible challenges Hull Truck Theatre were facing, the councils intervened to not only ensure the show could go on to bring festive cheer to audiences across the region, but so that Prince Charming and Cinderella could finally get their fairytale ending!

Mark Babych, Artistic Director at Hull Truck Theatre said: “Christmas is a time of year when fairytale heroes and villains are a firm feature in the plays and pantos so many of us love to experience as part of the festive calendar. Covid-19 is certainly this year’s villain but this year we have so many heroes to thank.

“We’re delighted the show can be enjoyed by audiences across the region and that we can continue to support artists and freelancers in what’s been an incredibly difficult year for the industry.”

Don’t worry if you can’t make the December 22 show! The performance will be available for residents and care homes to watch from 23 December to 3 January, while schools and community groups will have access for the weeks commencing 4 and 11 January with an accompanying resource pack.

Tickets are not required, the YouTube link will be made available on the Hull Truck Theatre website at www.hulltruck.co.uk/christmas-stream and social media channels.
