The Christmas season is getting underway very soon across Hull & East Yorkshire. Places everywhere are hosting great activities and events perfect for you to take the little ones to. Here’s our pick of the best Christmas activities to take the kids to in Hull & East Yorkshire…
So the festive season gets underway this Sunday with this huge street party down by the quay. There’ll be loads of great free activities for the kids (and big kids!) including an outdoor ice rink, balloon modellers and a magician. Word is that Mr & Mrs Claus are arriving on a boat!
Nothing feels more seasonal than the frosty chill on the ice. The Ice Arena is giving the kids the opportunity to skate with Wally The Walrus, Benny the Polar Bear and Percy the Penguin every Sunday morning – it’s not too bad on price either!
So we had the sneak peak on this on Wednesday night. Princes Quay has built it’s very own log cabin on the Harbour Desk (bottom floor) of the shopping centre. While we waited, Santa’s Elves were brilliant and very funny with the kids. It’s a crackin’ experience and with only a fiver per kid including a small gift, it’s one we can highly recommend. Here are some of our photos from the night.
It’s on every day until Christmas Eve, from this Sunday onward. We’d recommend booking online as there’ll be quite a queue for this one!
We got into the sneak-peak at Beverley’s Flemingate too this week. If you’re after more of a wintery feel to your kids trip to see Santa, then look no further. They’ve created a fairytale castle adorned with fairy lights and surrounded by snow and Christmas trees. Also at a fiver per kid including a gift, it’s also one we can recommend.
It’s running every Thursday – Sunday starting this weekend throughout Christmas.
The Museums in Hull are known for being fantastic throughout the year, but on Saturday 26th Nov, they’re putting together a fantastic family event. The Magic of Christmas will feature traditional rides, real reindeer, Santa’s Grotto and a life-like Polar Bear called Bjorn. With free entry, it’s definitely one you can’t miss!
This superb community centre, east of the city, is hosting it’s annual Christmas Festival. They’ll be switching on their festive lights, along with children’s rides, food, market and a Santa’s Grotto.
So we all love The Deep right? Well from Saturday 3rd until Friday 23rd December, every day, they’re hosting an amazing experience for you and the little ones. From only a tenner a ticket, you get parking included, entry into The Deep, a ride on Hull’s land-train, a visit to Santa’s Grotto (including a gift), plus there’s face-painting and arts & crafts. A great day out!
Remember going to see this Christmas Classic on the big screen when you were younger? Well everyone’s favourite Muppets are back on one of Hull’s big screens on Saturday 10th December for your own little ones to experience.
Christmas on the way means it’s also panto season. One of our favourite venues, The Spa Bridlington host their annual pantomime with a cast led by Emmerdale stalwart, Lorraine Chase. Snow White is a classic for the little ones to cheer, laugh and scream at (oh no it’s not!). So take a drive up to the coast from Tue 13th Dec.
Another classic from our childhood, never fades away at Christmas. And following on from their highly acclaimed 33 performance tour last December, Carrot Productions are back at City Hall to share their Snowman magic.
The team at City Hall have pulled in the big guns for this year’s big panto in Hull city centre. Crammed full of Hulls famous favourites, Gemma Oaten from Emmerdale, Samantha Atkinson from X-Factor, singer Lisa Kelsey, comedian and magician Martin Daniels, and plenty of extras from around the region. A class story that the kids will love!
