4 Amateur Sports Teams to Check Out This Weekend



Hull & East Yorkshire is sport mad and there are so many more teams to see just City, FC and KR. So if you’ve been thinking about seeing something new, check out these 5 interesting, amateur teams all playing at home this weekend.

Hall Road Rangers (Football)

hall-road-rangers-football-hull-2016Hall Road Rangers are currently playing in the Northern Counties East League Division One. Manager David Ricardo has high aspirations of taking Rangers up the table in this 2016/17 season. After being relegated from the Northern Counties East League Premier Division in the 2012/13 season, the team aim to get back there and are currently looking good to achieve their goal.

Hull Thunder (Volleyball)

hull-thunderHull Thunder Volleyball Club are East Yorkshire’s Premier Volleyball Club and only team in the National Volleyball League. With both men and women competing at regional and local levels. Having won the Hull & East Yorkshire Volleyball League in 2013, the team took the step up into the National Volleyball League.

Sunday 30th October: Hull Thunder Ladies vs  Leeds Panthers Ladies, Hull Thunder Men vs Barton Blockers

Kingston Panthers (Basketball)

kingston-panthersFormed in 2011, the Panthers are the largest basketball club in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Boasting teams at national level for men and wheelchair players, they are already a successful team. After a very successful 2012/13 season, when the team won the Premier League Title, HBA Cup, Playoff Title and HBA One Day Challenge Trophy, Karl Buitendam (Director of Basketball) declared his interest in joining the England Basketball National League for the 2013/14 season and the team are still currently there.

KC Knights Ice Hockey

KC Knights Ice Hockey Hull 2016There are a number of Ice Hockey clubs in Hull, one of them is this big recreational team called KC Knights who have only formed this year. They’ve played most of their fixtures over the summer, but they’re hosting a charity game against the RAF this Saturday at the Hull Arena. If you’ve never tried Ice Hockey before, it’s fast! And great fun. It’s a free event but just be generous and help raise money for Help for Heroes.
