Fiona Sampson talk: In Search of Mary Shelley

Astonishingly, Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein whilst a teenager. She was brought up by her father, mixing with radical thinkers, poets, philosophers and writers of the day, before eloping with Percy Bysshe Shelley, at the age of 16.

Fiona Sampson searches for the real woman, sifting through letters, diaries and records of the time.

Fiona is prolific writer and is Professor of Poetry at the University of Roehampton. She’s also a Fellow and Council Member of the Royal Society of Literature, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and the English Association.
