What's it about?

Ed Hamell of HAMELL ON TRIAL is one of the most exciting and brilliant songwriters to come our way in years. The New York-based Hamell is a one-man punk band, and what with his frantically strummed and heavily amplified acoustic guitar and wonderful vocal delivery; simultaneously bleak, touching, and hilarious songs; and propensity for telling long and very amusing anecdotes you won’t even notice he’s up there all by himself. You’ll be too busy laughing, or being moved by the man’s incredible empathy for the damaged, the downtrodden, and the damned.

A one-man explosion, he is loud-as-war one minute, stepping off the microphone to whisper to an enthralled audience the next. This is a dynamic performance informed by politics, passion, intelligence and the all-important sense of humor. His caustic wit and devil-may-care attitude has long been a favorite of anti-establishment icons Aesop Rock, Kimya Dawson, Ani DiFranco and the critical elite inciting Rolling Stone magazine to call him “Bald, bold and superbad!” Henry Rollins says “Hamell is a one man rock show!” He has been described as “Bill Hicks, Hunter S. Thompson, and Joe Strummer all rolled into one” by Philadelphia Weekly and a “one man Tarantino flick: loud, vicious, luridly hilarious, gleefully and deeply offensive” by the Village Voice.

Hamell is always uncompromising, fearless, obscene, insightful, absurd, angry & poignant…

MARTHA HILL creates true journey music. Her roots firmly in soulful folk and seductive jazz, married to the eccentricities of modern pop. Far from traditional, she fuses timelessness with alluring arrangements.

“At once exotically jazzy and soulfully sensual” – Narc Magazine

“Unassuming, effortless and quick to smile, her raw voice is welcoming, electric; full of warmth and control. It was a beautiful set up; as a singer-songwriter her originals were well paced, and ultimately, very human, distinct and recognisable. It comes from the heart.” -The Courier

BEINGS is a band made from Mr James Waudby and Mr Luke Barwell, one-time Salako members on a new path.
