What's it about?
A very important visitor is coming to Hull city centre to kick off Christmas in style. Santa and Mrs Claus will be accompanied by their elves and local mascots as they parade through Hull city centre on Sunday 19 November.
The popular Christmas parade, organised by Princes Quay, is back for its seventh year and promises to bring smiles to the faces of children in Hull once again.
Santa will begin his journey from Hull New Theatre at 11am and travel through the city to Princes Quay where he will switch on the Christmas lights and officially declare the PQ Express open.
The parade, sponsored by Hull BID and Agility Events, will feature floats from local organisations alongside the EYMS open top bus. Participants from around the region are also supporting the event, including teams from Pure Events, Diamond White Stars Cheerleaders, Anna and Elsa, Viking FM, Great Yorkshire Radio, Seaside Radio and festive stilt walkers. Leading the parade will be the All for One choir, with Acre Heads school children leading Santa’s float at the end of the procession, alongside mascots including the Hamleys Christmas Elf and Hamleys Teddy Bear.
Sarah Smith, Marketing Manager at Princes Quay, commented: “Our Christmas parade is hugely popular every year, it’s a great community event that benefits the city as a whole. It’s free and open to everyone to watch and we’re delighted to be kicking off the festivities in partnership with Hull BID and Agility Events. Santa is a very busy man, so we’re lucky to have him joining us to officially turn on the shopping centre lights and open the grotto.”
