If you’re like me, choosing a restaurant when you have a chance for a night out, isn’t the easiest task in the world. But there’s plenty of choice on the menu in Hull and East Yorkshire, and now you don’t need to look around to discover a new flavour. I’ve rounded up the best places to eat, based on various ratings and reviews from different websites. In no particular order, here are 12 of the top rated restaurants in Hull & East Yorkshire…
Meze Bar & Grill
TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 5/5
I’m always excited at the opportunity to dine here. I discovered it a couple of years ago, and like many other local diners, I rate it highly. Situated on Cottingham Road, next to Lidl, it serves delicious Turkish dishes with meat from their grill. There’s a warm friendly atmosphere too.
Sumo Pan Asian
Tripadvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.9/5 | Google 4.6/5
One of my favourite restaurants, ever! Many local diners are craving a Wagamama in the region but trust me, we don’t need it. Sumo is far better. It has a wider range of dishes on the menu, the food is amazing and I always look for an opportunity to go back. Looks like I’m not the only one who thinks it too as it has outstanding ratings across the board.
TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.8/5
I’ve tried both Tapasya restaurants (Bev Road and Hull Marina) and both are incredible, but it’s the Bev Road one that edges it amongst local diners. It is Indian fine-dining with a big focus on quality rather than quantity (yet I always leave feeling full!). People love it for the same reasons as me; mainly that the dishes are out of this world – genuinely the best Masala I’ve ever had!
Warehouse 13, Hull Marina
Quandoo 5.3/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.7/5
This local Italian is hidden away in Warehouse 13 down by the marina. It isn’t known for your typical Pizza-Pasta dishes (although very good!), but is recommended for it’s fantastic seafood risotto and mushroom sauce.
Solos Music Cafe
Kingston Road, Willerby
TripAdvisor 5/5 | Facebook 5/5
More of a bistro than a Cafe; this music-focused venue on the Willerby/Hull border, is highly rated for it’s atmosphere and quality of food. It has gigs on every week which you can enjoy with a typical British-Bistro menu.
Cornmill Hotel, Holderness Road
Quandoo 5.4/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.8/5
This unique Italian opened in 2017 and has had fantastic reviews ever since. Warm and friendly, it serves excellent authentic Italian and has quickly become a popular restaurant in Hull.
Wold Road, Willerby
Quandoo 5.5/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.6/5
This Indian restaurant opened in 2017 and has been a huge hit so far. High-quality dishes but good portions too with plenty of options.
Kings Parade, King Street, Cottingham
Quandoo 5.5/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.9/5
We have a great selection of Italian restaurants in Hull, but Pascos is the highest rated amongst local diners. It’s not just pizza and pasta, but seafood, steaks, ciabatta sandwiches and more.
TripAdvisor 5/5 | Facebook 4.9/5
This long-established favourite is the number 1 Indian restaurant on TripAdvisor right now. Excellent curry dishes are highly recommended and a huge menu to choose from.
Quandoo 5.6/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.8/5
A personal favourite of mine, Thai House dishes up some of the best Thai cuisine in the region. Top ratings and reviews across the web and another top hygiene rating of 5/5.
Quandoo 5.7/6 | TripAdvisor 4.5/5 | Facebook 4.9/5
This Greek delight on Anlaby Road has rapidly grown in popularity since it opened in late 2016. It’s had some fantastic reviews and even has a super 5/5 hygiene rating!
Izabella Restaurant & Cocktail Bar
Quandoo 5.8/6 | TripAdvisor 5/5 | Facebook 4.8/5
Izabella is quite unknown still but from the reviews it’s had so far, this is an absolute gem. Serving Polish cuisine, it opened 3 years ago but moved to Bev Road just over 1 year ago. Diners are raving about the quality of the food and it’s prices – I can’t wait to give it a try!
