X Factor star Samantha Atkinson is joining the cast of Mother Goose in this year’s pantomime at Hull City Hall.
The singer will play the Queen of Gooseland in the traditional family show which opens on Wednesday, December 21.
The part will give Samantha the opportunity to show off the voice that got her all the way to Los Angeles to perform in front of Sharon Osbourne and Robbie Williams at the judges’ houses stage of the TV talent competition. Samantha controversially lost out on a place in the X Factor’s live shows to rap artist Honey G, despite more than 11,000 people signing a petition to get Samantha reinstated.
“I am so excited,” said Samantha, 32. “I have always wanted to be in a pantomime and what better place to do it than in my home city and in the fantastic City Hall.”
Samantha is the latest addition to Mother Goose, which is being billed as ‘one Hull of a pantomime’ thanks to its numerous city connections.
Hull girl and Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten will star in the show, along with Hull singer and actress Lisa Kelsey. Lisa has performed internationally both as a soloist and in various shows, including several pantomimes in the area in recent years and a tour of her ‘Angel of Music’ tribute to Sarah Brightman.
Joining Lisa, Gemma and Samantha is comedian and magician Martin Daniels as well as a cast and crew of talent picked from Hull to bring audiences a festive treat this Christmas.
Mother Goose opens at Hull City Hall on Wednesday, December 21 until Thursday, December 29. See the event listing here.
