The Labour Party have retained their majority and control of Hull City Council after a full day of counting votes yesterday in the 2021 local elections.

It came with a bit of a scare though as the Liberal Democrats gained two extra seats on the council, gaining two of Labour’s seats; Peter Clark in North Carr Ward and the Sutton Ward seat from Leisure and Tourism councillor, Dave Craker.

Labour did gain a seat from the Conservatives in Bricknell ward, which Peter North won, and the council’s current Deputy Leader Daren Hale managed to fend off challenges in St Andrews and Docklands wards.

The political make-up of the council is:
Labour Group – 30
Liberal Democrat Group – 26
Conservative Group – 1

Any changes to the Cabinet will be announced by the Leader in due course.
