About First Direct Arena
The First Direct Arena is Leeds’ largest entertainment venue with a 13,000 capacity. It regularly hosts live music, comedy, entertainment shows and sports events.
In 2014, it was voted the ‘Best New Venue in the World’ at the Stadium Business Awards. For an arena it’s size, it’s quite unique to have a “theatre style” configuration where all seats are facing the stage, but the design and acoustics makes it ideal for hosting music concerts compared with more traditional arena layouts.
So far, First Direct Arena Leeds has hosted some of the biggest artists in the world since opening in September 2013. This includes Sir Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Bublé, Gary Barlow, Prince, Miley Cyrus, John Bishop, Queen + Adam Lambert, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Bette Midler, Drake, Morrissey, The Eagles, Pharrell Williams, John Legend and Mumford and Sons. It’s even hosted huge key award events including The MOBO Awards, and BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.
