Looking to treat your mum this Mother’s Day? Mother’s Day 2021 is fast approaching and time is running out for securing the perfect treat for the special lady in your life.
In this article I’ve listed some great options from a range of local businesses to help make mother’s day this Sunday. From afternoon tea, to locally distilled gin, these Mother’s Day treats are bound to make your mum feel special.
One of our favourite Newland coffee shops, The Artisan, have a great offering for Mother’s Day. Their afternoon tea includes four finger sandwiches, freshly baked homemade fruit scone, with butter & jam, a selection of bitesize pieces of homemade cakes, decorated with fresh berries & a bottle of Fentimans lemonade. All for £12.50 per person!
Whilst they’ve sold out for the Sunday, you can still order for Friday or Saturday for an early celebration.
Alternatively you could check out their ‘Mother’s Day Bake Box’ which costs £10 per box. This option includes two themed cupcakes, two themed iced biscuits, two pieces of traditional cake; all presented in a decorated giftbox. Nice right?

Cocoa Chocolatier & Bakehouse
Trinity Market’s Cocoa make some absolutely beautiful chocolate that would make any mother happy this Sunday. Their Mother’s Day Trinity Feast Box is unfortunately sold out. But they have some little chocolate boxes and treat boxes left; a perfect treat for a mother with a sweet tooth.
Humber Street Distillery
If your mum’s anything like mine, she probably likes a gin. I mean it is Mother’s Day after all! Humber Street Distillery have a couple of Mother’s Day hampers available to order.
Their ‘Mother’s Day cocktail Hamper’ costs £25 and includes three 250ml cocktail mixes with a can of ginger beer to serve. Or they have the ‘Mother’s Day Hamper’ for £55 which includes all of the above with a 70cl bottle of their Hull Berry Gin.
Bert’s Pizza & Gelato
You still got afternoon tea on the brain? Bert’s got you. For £38, their afternoon tea includes a selection of sandwiches, homemade quiche, sausage rolls, delicious homemade buns, brownie, scones, and almond biscuits. Plus a nice bottle of prosecco to wash it down. They also have a vegetarian option available.
Bert’s are taking online orders until 5pm on Thursday 11th March so act fast!
If you’re looking for a lovely meal for your mum this year then look no further than Ambiente Tapas. Their Mother’s Day boxes are a great way for your mum to have a beautiful cooked meal with a nice bottle of Cava from the comfort of their own home.
Their ‘Mother’s Day Treat for Two’ box includes a sharing platter to start, five tapas from a selection, and a sharing dessert.
Alternatively their ‘Mother’s Day Family Feast for Four’ includes a sharing platter for four to start, a main course sharing paella, five tapas from a selection, and a sharing dessert for four.
Both options comes with a bottle of Rosada or Limitada Vilarnau Cava.
Orders close at 5pm on Wednesday 10th March so time is of the essence!
Shoot The Bull
If you want only the finest for mother, Shoot The Bull have some fantastic options for a lovely meal in. Their ‘Mother’s Day Special Supper for 1’ is a full on three course meal for £25. For starter, there’s creamy mushrooms on sourdough toast. The Main Course sees you an ultimate fish pie, confit lemon & tomato salad. And for dessert a rhubarb & apple crumble served with rich vanilla custard. Served with a 20cl bottle of Bottega Rose Gold!
If you truly want the finest for your lovely mum then the real treat on the menu is the Mother’s Day three course wagyu roast dinner. Starter includes sautéed mushrooms in a creamy madeira, tarragon and truffle sauce on sourdough toast. For main, wagyu roast topside of beef, roast root vegetables, wagyu beef dripping roast potatoes, cabbage & bacon, cauliflower & broccoli cheese, Yorkshire pudding, with rich beef gravy. And finally Yorkshire rhubarb & apple crumble, rich vanilla custard for dessert. Including a bottle of sparkling wine this option costs £85 or £70 if you decide you don’t want the fizz.
Rupert & Darwin
Princes Ave’s Rupert & Darwin are offering a A Mother’s Day feast designed to be served in the middle of the table for the whole family to share.
Their £30 per-person Mothering Sunday Dinner includes a selection of delicious bits and bobs to start: Staal Smoked Salmon; Potted Pork, Sage Butter; Lemon & Thyme Sausage Roll; Onion & Parmesan Tart; Pickles, White Onion & Ale Chutney; Sesame Crackers; Poppy Seed Loaves.
For main: Glazed Spiced Ham; Roast Chicken; Mushroom, Red Onion, Spinach, Chestnut & Pine Nut Wellington (V); Chilli & Pineapple Salsa; Dauphinois Potatoes; Creamed Savoy Cabbage; Garlic Tenderstem Broccoli; Clapshot; Gravy; Mustard Cream.
And to finish Apple & Rhubarb Pie with Cinnamon Custard.
