February is almost over and March is coming ever closer, bringing with it a whole new month of events. It might be one of the biggest yet!

There’s some great events in Hull this March. There’s music, theatre, mini-cruises, comedy and more. These are the events we think you should know about…

Mamma Mia! (3rd-21st, Hull New Theatre) 

The popular jukebox musical will grace the stage of Hull New Theatre! A story of a young bride-to-be searching for her unknown father to the tune of ABBA’s greatest hits has thrilled audiences since 1999. The show will play in the city for three weeks before moving onto Nottingham, the next destination in its tour of the UK.

 

Two (5th-28th, Hull Truck Theatre) 

A Tony Award-winning dark comedy thriller about 1980s life in a Northern pub promises a great night for audiences as they watch 14 characters played by just 2 actors! Featuring all the humour and heartbreak of the bar trade, this play promises to be an incredible experience you can’t miss.

 

Beach Body Ready (10th-11th, Hull Truck Theatre) 

Following a successful run at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Roaring Girls are bringing their feel-good show back to Hull! Funny, thought-provoking, and sometimes sad, three women tell their stories about their struggles with body image in an empowering way.

 

Kojo Anim (10th, Hull City Hall) 

Originally from Ghana, comedian and former Britain’s Got Talent finalist Kojo Anim is embarking on his first UK tour. City Hall can expect a wealth of hilarious observational comedy about life, parenthood, and family.

 

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (12th, Hull City Hall) 

City Hall welcomes a cultured evening of the finest classical music as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra takes the stage this March. The Royal Philharmonic, featuring violinist Esther Yoo, will be performing works by esteemed composers Borodin, Tchaikovsky, and Brahms.

 

80’s Party Mini Cruise (13th-15th, P&O Ferries – Pride of Rotterdam, NSF Rotterdam Terminal) 

Everyone loves a bit of nostalgia, so dig out your leggings, plump up the shoulder pads, apply your eyeliner and join us on this 80’s themed Mini Cruise to Rotterdam for the best 80’s fun since Pac-Man hit the arcades.Enjoy a good bit of nostalgia as this group take you on a journey to the era of big hair and even bigger tunes.

 

Siobhan Philips: Live and Unhinged (14th, Hull City Hall) 

City Hall’s Mortimer Suite will be welcoming 2019 Britain’s Got Talent finalist Siobhan Philips. Described as “the love child of Peter Kay and Victoria Wood”, Siobhan will be performing a plethora of hilarious observational songs covering such subjects as motherhood and temperamental toddlers.

 

Milton Jones in Milton: Impossible (18th, Hull City Hall) 

Known for his colourful shirts and mad hairstyle,regular Mock the Week favourite funnyman Milton Jones is bringing his wonderfully weird brand of humour to City Hall. Don’t miss out on this chance for a night of hilariously surreal one-liners.

 

Northern Soul Mini Cruise (18th-20th, P&O Ferries – Pride of Hull, NSF Rotterdam Terminal) 

It’s soul time as the Northern Soul and Motown Mini Cruise returns once again. With a whole host of great DJs including BBC Radio’s John Kane and Keith Fletcher, it’s really not one to be missed and you’re in for a treat on this special themed Hull to Rotterdam Mini Cruise!

 

Rob Brydon – Songs and Stories (20th, Hull City Hall) 

Actor, comedian, singer, impressionist, and all-round marvellous entertainer Rob Brydon will perform a very special show of laughter and music at City Hall. The Gavin and Stacey star will be punctuating the hilarity with musical interludes from a live band, performing hits by such artists as Paul Simon, Tom Jones, and Rogers and Hammerstein.

 

Vintage Mini Cruise (28th – 30th, P&O Ferries – Pride of York, NSF Rotterdam Terminal) 

Travel back in time with a whole host of entertainment to experience true nostalgia – which would be nothing without the right soundtrack! We’ve got some fantastic acts lined up for you which will take you back to a bygone era like nothing else on this special Vintage Mini Cruise to Bruges.

 

Jane Eyre (30th March – 1st April, Hull Truck Theatre) 

The end of March sees Charlotte Bronte’s beloved novel brought to life on the stage at the Hull Truck Theatre. Captivating, brooding and intensely powerful, Jane Eyre is a moving and unforgettable portrayal of one woman’s quest for equality and freedom, and lives as one of the great triumphs of storytelling.
